Dragon Fruits
Dragon Fruit is the fruit from the cactus tree.
I've know this fruit (PITAYA) time ago long, but just tasted it in Bangkok. Here we can easily find dragon fruit anywhere.
Above is the pitaya tree, I mean just see the background. I don't have the tree-only pic, so sorry.
There are 2 kind of dragon fruits in Bangkok, red-fleshed and white-fleshed. The white one is more common than the red ones. I prefer the red ones as it is more delicious, but the color is bloody bloody red, sooooo red!
The benefits of dragon fruits (quoted from http://www.ilovepitaya.com/nutritionqwe.htm):
1. The pitaya fruit is rich in vitamins.
2. The pitaya fruit helps the digestive process.
3. The pitaya fruit helps prevent colon cancer and diabetes.
4. The pitaya fruit helps to neutralize toxic substances such as heavy metal, reduce cholesterol levels and high blood pressure.
5. Consumed regularly the pitaya fruit can help against asthma and cough.
6. The pitaya fruit can be grown without the use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers.
